Job Title: Package Screener
Job Summary:          
          
The Screener provides for safety and security of client assets by providing exceptional screening procedures and by following client’s post orders and Andy Frain policy while maintaining a professional image and providing excellent customer service.

 
Responsibilities:  
       
All responsibilities are to be carried out in an honest, ethical and professional manner and in accordance with client and/or Andy Frain policies and procedures. Responsibilities may vary from location to location but will typically consist of the following:

  • Controls access to client property as required. Monitoring entrances and exits to prevent unlawful or unapproved entry.
  • Screens personnel and/or property for the purpose of detecting prohibited items (i.e. weapons, contraband) and preventing their entry into client property. Uses checkpoint equipment (x?ray, walk through metal detector, hand?held metal detector, or explosive trace detector) and/or procedures (bag?check, pat?down, physical inspection) to detect prohibited items.
  • Provides excellent customer service; provides a courteous, respectful and pleasant interaction with each client employee and visitor. Presents a good impression of the client and Andy Frain by maintaining a professional image and greeting people in a polite and friendly manner.
  • Prepares logs or reports as required; recording accidents, activity, incidents, and observations. Writes and/or types and/or enters information on paper or in a computer using standard grammar and punctuation.
  • Acts to ensure that all client policies are enforced; preserving order and enforcing regulations regarding personnel, visitors, premises and property.
  • Completes other similar tasks as required by circumstance or post order.

  • Ability to see, hear, speak and write clearly.
  • Ability to be able to sit, stand or walk for long periods of time.
  • Ability to climb stairs, walk up inclines or on uneven terrain.
  • Ability to reach with hands or arms, twist, turn, bend, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.
  • Ability to lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
  • Abilityto reach all parts of a standing adult body with one hand and/or with a handheld metal detector.
    • Ability to hear, distinguish, and respond to the spoken voice and audible alarms generated by metal detection devices in the checkpoint environment. 
    • Possess the manual dexterity necessary to operate an x?ray machine, walk through metal detector, hand?held metal detector, and to conduct bag searches including being able to open and close latches, zippers and screw caps, inspect baggage contents and reach all sides of a bag.
    • Possess close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
    • Possess vision to perceive color used on a color x?ray and metal detector visual alarms.
    • Possess vision to distinguish 24 gauge wire on the 5th step of the test step wedge.

  • Requirement to work overtime without advanced notice.

  • Requirement to handle multiple tasks at the same time.
  • Exposure to stressful and physical activity including frequent sitting, standing and walking for long periods, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, climbing stairs or lifting 10 to 50 pounds.

Minimum Qualifications:

The following are the minimum qualifications of the job. Additional qualifications may be specified and receive preference depending on the nature of the position.
  • Be at least 18 years of age.
  • Be a citizen of the United States or lawful permanent resident.
  • Have a high school diploma or a General Equivalency Diploma.
  • Possess a reliable means of communication (i.e. phone).
  • Possess a reliable means of transportation (public or private).
  • Must be willing to submit to a background investigation; any offer of employment is conditioned upon the successful completion of a background investigation
  • Pass a physical examination (contract specific).
  • Pass a pre-employment drug test.
  • Possess a valid driver’s license, as required for duty.
  • May need to possess an active security license in compliance with state requirements.
  • Possess basic aptitudes and physical abilities including; color perception, visual acuity, physical coordination, motor skills, meeting lifting requirements (pass the Fit for Duty).
  • Law Enforcement, security or military background – preferred.
